Land Rover has given a green light to produce the LRX concept, a smaller SUV that will likely be available in 2011.
The addition of the Land Rover LRX comes at a time when Land Rover’s parent company, Tata Motors, is struggling to cut costs. Both Land Rover and Jaguar have suffered amid the slumping auto market admits Shreveport Jaguar dealers dealers, and assembly plant closures are pending. Both Land Rover and Jaguar models are currently produced in central England. The LRX will likely be produced at the plant in Halewood.
Although the economy continues to plague Land Rover, Shreveport Land Rover dealers say the luxury SUV maker does have fresh offerings already heading to showrooms. For 2010, the LR3 was updated and renamed the LR4, and the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have both received modest styling changes and new engines that Denver used Land Rover believe will help keep these models fresh.
The addition of the LRX will likely be a huge improvement for the Land Rover lineup. The current LR2 compact SUV has not been a success, especially when compared to a growing number of premium compact SUV competitors. If the production LRX retains the styling and sportiness of the concept, Land Rover may have a compact SUV that’s able to stand out from the crowd.
